Grace Notes
Twenty-fifth Sunday after Pentecost
November 10, 2024
O God, whose blessed Son was manifested that he might destroy the works of the devil and make us the children of God and heirs of eternal life: Grant us, we beseech thee, that, having this hope, we may purify ourselves even as he is pure; that, when he shall appear again with power and great glory, we may be made like unto him in his eternal and glorious kingdom; where with thee, O Father, and thee, O Holy Ghost, he liveth and reigneth ever, one God, world without end. Amen.

ABOUT THE SEASON AFTER PENTECOST . . . The Season after Pentecost is the “ordinary time” of the Church, the time of the Church’s pilgrimage on her way to the Kingdom of God. During these weeks between Pentecost and Advent the Church explores her life, role, and place in the narrative that began with Creation (and the fall) and leads to the Redemption of the world by our Lord Jesus Christ and the empowerment of the Church by the Holy Spirit on Pentecost to be Christ’s Body, carrying out Christ’s mission, until his coming again.
OUR PRAYERS ARE ASKED FOR . . . . the sick and those in need, especially The Most Reverend Michael Curry, Presiding Bishop, The Rev. James Warnke, priest, Michael Shumway, Catherine Gooch, Larry Toppin, Lesly Gannelli, Diane Tekirian, Howard Goldin, Chris Spilker, Lexi Manning, Gina DeMarsico, Stephanie Luciani, Christian Davis, Shawn Davis, Felix Wroten, Suzanne Morris, Lauren Rosenthal, Nancy Mohr, Roseanne Levine, Jenafer Medina, Charlotte Wilson, Rich Landi, Lorie and John Menitti, John Whitlock and Gaylord Hitchcock, priest.
For those celebrating birthdays and those celebrating anniversaries especially Thomas & Leslie Bisdale (11/12).
For those who have died especially Vera Sewalk (11/10), Edward H. Carlson (11/13), Signe Danhart (11/14), Victoria F. O'Brien (11/16), Jill Marie Wallerius (11/16), and Anna Porsche (11/16).
PRAYER LIST REQUESTS . . . To add any names to the parish prayer list, please send an email to kmaccourt@gmail.com with the name of the person to be prayed for, your name and a brief description of the person’s health or other situation (note if long-term or chronic). Names are listed for four weeks and then rotate off, but they can be added again as needed. If you have questions, please speak with the wardens or Father Anthony.
Our annual stewardship season and pledge campaign is ongoing. We began our campaign last Sunday, October 13, and will conclude on Sunday, November 17. We will again this year use the stewardship program provided by The Episcopal Network on Stewardship (TENS).
REMINDER:
Please answer and return the Stewardship survey you received in your email last week. The answers, as noted, do not obligate you to any group unless you so indicate. We would like to know what is important to you and what interests our congregation at large. There are paper surveys in the narthex if you prefer; just drop it into the collection plate. If you have already returned yours, thank you.
We appreciate your time. Many thanks.
If you have any questions, please feel free to email/call me.

Almighty and everlasing Father, who hast given the Holy Spirit to abide with us for ever: Bless, we beseech thee, with his grace and presence, the bishops and the other clergy and the laity now assembled in thy Name, that thy Church, being preserved in true faith and godly discipline, may fulfill all the mind of him who loved it and gave himself for it, thy Son Jesus Christ our Savior; who liveth and reigneth with thee, in the unity of the same Spirit, one God, now and for ever. FROM THE BISHOP . . . A prayer for guidance. Noting that the reactions to this week's presidential election are wide-ranging and will play themselves out across our country, in our communities, and in our churches, Bishop Hughes offers us a prayer she has relied on in challenging times.
