Grace Notes
Third Sunday after Pentecost
June 29, 2025
O Almighty God, who hast built thy Church upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief cornerstone: Grant us so to be joined together in unity of spirit by their doctrine, that we may be made an holy temple acceptable unto thee; through the same Jesus Christ our Lord, who liveth and reigneth with thee and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

SPECIAL MEETING . . . On June 6th, I sent a letter to the community inviting every member to be in the mindset of growth and welcome and to highlight the momentum we are currently experiencing at Grace Church. I also asked everyone to share their many gifts and ideas with parish leadership as we prepare for the upcoming program year. This Sunday we will have a special meeting after Mass to pray, discern, and share some of those ideas. I hope all of you will be able to attend. The meeting will last for an hour.
I give thanks for God’s grace and the movement of the Holy Spirit. I truly believe this is a special time for us and look forward to this time of prayer and discernment.
Peace,
Father Anthony
SUNDAY SCHOOL . . . is held at 10 AM on Sundays for grade school age children (kindergarten to 5th grade). After their lesson and activity, the children will join the congregation for communion. The schedule will be variable during the summer months; please check the newsletter for details.
ABOUT THE SEASON AFTER PENTECOST . . . The Season after Pentecost is the “ordinary time” of the Church, the time of the Church’s pilgrimage on her way to the Kingdom of God. During these weeks between Pentecost and Advent the Church explores her life, role and place in the narrative that began with Creation (and the fall) and leads to the Redemption of the world by our Lord Jesus Christ and the empowerment of the Church by the Holy Spirit on Pentecost to be Christ’s Body, carrying out Christ’s mission, until his coming again.

James Warnke, priest, Gary Stubbs, Nancy Mohr, Rae Palladino, Dave, Thomas Petrullo, Daniela Parisi, Michael Shumway, Chris Spilker, Gina DeMarsico, Suzanne Morris, Lauren Rosenthal, Charlotte Wilson, John Whitlock, and Gaylord Hitchcock, priest.

PRAYING WITH THE SCRIPTURES . . . During the summer months, we will pray the scriptures together online using the contemplative practice Composition of Place. This method of prayer, associated most commonly within Ignatian spirituality, emphasizes the use of imagination and engaging the senses to place oneself into a scriptural passage. This practice helps deepen one’s experience of scripture and draws one closer to God in prayer. The meetings will take place on the first and third Thursdays of the month and will last for about an hour.

HELP US BOOST INCLUSION IN OUR FAITH COMMUNITY . . . Neurodiversity refers to the natural variation in human brains and how they function, learn, and interact with the world. Some neurodivergent conditions include but are not limited to: Autism, ADHD and Dyslexia, for example.
We’re inviting all parishioners to take part in a short, confidential online survey about experiences with neurodiversity as a member of the Episcopal Diocese of Newark. Your insights will help guide our efforts to make our churches more inclusive, compassionate, and responsive to all.
Please take a few minutes to share your perspective:

FROM THE BISHOP . . . Silence is not neutral: A call to Christian witness. Addressing the current conflict around immigration, Bishop Hughes reminds us that silence can be misinterpreted as agreement, and encourages Christians to engage in meaningful, compassionate conversations grounded in the teachings of Jesus – even across deep differences.
